This church is exceptionally involved with the Waco community and possesses a strong focus on community outreach, both locally and worldwide. Antioch Community Church is a great place to get involved if you are interested in partnering with a highly active Christian organization. I would also recommend visiting a "Lifegroup". These are hosted on a weekly basis in the homes of church leaders and provide ample opportunity to connect more directly with the community. "Lifegroups" also provide a more intentional and personal focus on the Bible and the practical application of it in everyday life.

I really feel the spirit of God and the people are friendly for the most part except for when you ask if someone is sitting next to a person with an empty chair and say it is taken or in tonight's case, their husband was taking it and the whole service it is still empty, you realize that there are still hypocritical people who go to church and lie inside of one...

This church has changed my life! I have grown so much here in Christ. I love being part of small groups and meeting great people! I also love how they are really involved in the community and abroad. I hear they have like 30 something U.S. church plants and more overseas. I appreciate their heart for people outside of the church too.

Pros: Hands down, the most diverse congregation in Waco. Beautiful facility, great worship band, extremely organized, very sweet small groups to help members feel included. Vincent Carpenter preaches here sometimes and he is an change-how-you-see-Jesus insightful guy. The love of God is real in this church.
Notes: They don't do communion on Sundays, which I realized a few months in was actually a big deal for me (I think they encourage small groups to do it). Pastor Jimmy is a sweet guy, but relies a lot on what I call "miracle preaching," in which he emphasizes the role of miracles he's seen or heard of in the sermon's topic. That was tough for me because I work in a field of few miracles and a lot of just handling tragedy the best you can. I'd much rather hear about the Holy Spirit walking someone through the pain of tragedy than some 1/1000 miracle birth or something. It's not LGBT friendly, which is pretty standard in Texas, but there are a few great Waco churches that are LGBT friendly so don't give up.
Overall, God centered church with really sweet people and a strong organization. If you're looking for communion, realistic preaching, or LGBT friendliness, go elsewhere.Added April 06, 2017 by Samantha Cubbage - ★ ★ ★ ★ ★
Amazing, authentic, loving community! I love the building as well; such a great facility for this church.
